The AquaMotion Recirculation Systems are the perfect retrofit solution for hot water quickly. As many homeowners know, you can turn on the faucet and wait for the water to heat up for a very long time - sometimes more than 2 or 3 minutes. Typically, with tankless hot water heaters, the wait time may not be as long but no matter how long, that waiting time is literally washing away gallons of wasted, good, clean water not to mention energy. Simply put, hot water recirculation saves cooled water from being dumped down the drain while waiting for hot water. Hot water cools once you turn off your water. Lukewarm water in the hot pipe is bypassed into the cold supply line. A pump, sensor, switch and bypass valve provide automatic operation so that there is always hot water at the sink.
The AquaMotion ODR Valve is a small, quiet, lead free stainless/brass hot water recirculation valve for single pipe systems. It installs at the fixture furthest from the tankless hot water heater. It acts in conjunction with a circulator to supply hot water ON DEMAND or with a built-in timer on the pump. The ODR valve mounts below the fixture between hot and cold supply lines. When hot water is called for using an On-Call control or Built-in Timer, the circulator forces the cooled hot water in the hot water line into the cold supply line which returns it to the hot water heater. As hotter water reaches the ODR Valve it closes until a 95°F temperature is reached at which point the valve automatically adjusts to maintain this temperature. For On-Call the circulator continues to operate for 5 minutes based on the factory setting of the receiver.
An AMK-ODR bypass valve kit includes the valve, tee and hose. It is a perfect solution if the home has plumbing that tees off the main line and goes to other fixtures. It offers more flow to fire the tankless water heater.
