The FPHMR42A3A outdoor five-zone condenser features Friedrich's Precision Inverter Technology, offering a variable speed compressor to keep up with your comfort control needs while still being energy efficient. A standard air conditioner turn off when the set temperature is achieved. An inverter system uses variable capacity to reach and maintain the set comfort level in your space. To help alleviate some of the decisions, we have put together a kit for you which includes 3 indoor wall units and the outdoor compressor. 

As a five-zone unit, the FPHMR42A3A gives you the option of adding zone comfort control to your home or office in three, four or five separate spaces. The outdoor unit features Low Ambient Operation making it a great year round option for heating and cooling for most of the US. It will operate in the Cooling Mode when outdoor temperatures are as low as 14°F up to 115°F. The range in which this unit will heat is equally as wide and it will heat when temperatures are as low as -13°F up to 75°F!

Friedrich multi-zone compressors include a built-in troubleshooting control board, standard. This control board gives you the ability to check several parameters on all units from the pump to each connected indoor unit. It is a valuable feature that is typically not included with other brands of mini split compressors. While you will find other manufacturers do offer a trouble shooting control board, it is typically an add-on option. Additional standard features of the Friedrich outdoor unit include:

  • Easy installation - Your system will be up and running in just a few short hours in most cases.

The FPHMR42A3A is a 42,000 BTU unit that has a connected capacity of up to 54,000 BTUs. A minimum of three units MUST be connected and the minimum combination or units must be at least 50% of the connected capacity, 27,000 BTUs for this unit. There are several allowable combinations of indoor units that can be connected up to the 54,000 BTU total capacity. Several indoor units are available for use with the five zone mini-split system. While any combination of units can be used in the installation of the five zone system, we have pre-configured this system with 3 indoor units including a 12,000 BTU, 18,000 BTU and 24,000 BTU wall units for a total of 54,000 connected BTUs. The system will adjust and allocate the required BTUs needed for each area up to the total of 42,000 BTUs. If all three units are running at the same time, the BTUs for each unit will be adjusted to meet each rooms required BTUs. For this kit, substitutions are not allowable. No additional units can be added to the outdoor unit in this system. The FPHMR42A3A gets great energy ratings and when connected to non-ducted indoor units, the system will deliver 10.5 EER2, 20.0 SEER2 and 8.95 HSPF2 Ratings. 
 
Standard Wall Unit (FPHFW09A3B, FPHFW24A3B) - The standard wall unit comes in a white finish and will blend quietly and seamlessly into any room decor. It is installed high on a wall. It connects to the outdoor compressor through a small opening in your wall, drilled behind the unit. The line set and wire (required, sold separately) are sized specifically for each unit. In this configuration, each wall unit requires a different size line set.
  • FPHFW09A3B - 9,000 BTUs each unit requires 1/4" x 3/8" line set
  • FPHFW24A3B - 24,000 BTUs requires 3/8" x 5/8" line set
Each line is sent through the wall and connects to the compressor outside. A wireless remote is included for convenient operation from anywhere in the room. These units have built-in WiFi! Each indoor unit operates with its own remote control (included) or can be connected to a wall thermostat/controller. WiFi access and voice commands with Google Assistant or Alexa are also available with the new Floating Air wall units.
 
The wall units offer optimized air flow with 4-way air swing that send the conditioned air to all corners of your space. Factors such as windows, doors, computers and ceiling height must be factored in when calculating the BTUs you need for your specific installation requirements. Low ambient operation includes cooling operation to 5°F and heating operation down to -13°F! Confirm your specific needs:
  • 9,000 BTU unit will cool about 450 sq. ft.
  • 24,000 BTU unit will cool about 1200 sq. ft.

Mini Split Line Sets - Line sets are a requirement when installing a mini split system. They are the connection between the outdoor unit and the indoor units of your system. Every indoor unit needs to be connected directly to the outdoor unit with its own line set. Most Mini Split Line Sets come with flared connectors attached and are ready to install. Our line sets are offered with and without control wire and are available in various connection sizes and lengths to meet your installation needs. The line set shown in the photo includes the control wire. With the four indoor wall units included, all you need to add are line sets for each unit. Each 9,000 BTU unit (3) requires 1/4" x 3/8", and the 24,000 BTU unit requires 3/8" x 5/8". Some line sets have white insulation while others have black insulation. This is manufacturer dependent - there is no choice.

This unit must be installed by a qualified licensed HVAC technician.
