The ICM518 Split Phase Surge Protector is made to protect electronic equipment from unwanted power surges. It is UL Listed (US and Canada) as a Type 1 & 2 Surge Protective Device for 240 VAC Split Phase voltage configurations. This product is housed in a NEMA Type 4X watertight enclosure which is for use in both indoor and outdoor applications. It has a Short Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) of 200,000 Amps. The ICM518 utilizes thermal protection on the surge elements (TMOV’s) which allows for the safe disabling of the elements when a surge exceeds the thermal limits of the device.
 
UL Listed  - Type 1 Surge Protective Device (SPD): 
  • Intended for installation on either the lineside or loadside of the service. The ICM518 is dual-rated for both Type 1 and Type 2 applications. 
UL Listed - Type 2 Surge Protective Device (SPD): 
  • Intended to be installed on the loadside of the service at the loadside of A/C disconnect or an indoor electrical panel when protected by a circuit breaker of 20-60A max and 240V. For a strictly Type 2 Device, please see the ICM517 here. 
The ICM518 has a status light on the control which identifies operational status when illuminated. It is rated and suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering not more than 200kA RMS symmetrical amperes, 240V maximum. It is recommended that a licensed electrician install the ICM518.
