Product Overview
KwiKool offers several portable air options for the commercial industry. These units are created specifically for areas that are difficult to cool. The KPO line of portable air includes units designed with high static blowers specifically for areas that are hard to reach with conventional products. The KPO high static and airflow units are used in indoor and outdoor temporary installations and are available in 5 ton, 12 ton and 25 ton options. Three 60,000 BTU / 5 ton units are available (208/230 single phase, 230/3 phase and 460/3 phase); two 135,000 BTU / 12 Ton units (230/3 phase or 460/3 phase); and the 270,000 BTU / 25 Ton (460/3 phase) unit.
The Model KPO12-23 is a 12-ton / 135,000 BTU unit. It uses 208/230 volt / 3 phase electricity. An 80 amp circuit is required when using 230/3 electricity for this unit. The KPO12-23 comes with built-in Camlock Connections and must be hardwired by a qualified electrician. The KPO12 is just 32 inches wide allowing it to fit through a standard 36-inch door, making it ideal for applications that require cold air in hard to reach hot spaces such as sealed interior spaces. Because it is "portable" the KPO12 can be brought in to a location when the primary source of air conditioning is down or if additional/secondary cooling is required.
The KPO12 is available with (KPO12-23H) or without (KPO12-23) an optional Heat Strip. The Heat Strip makes this indoor/outdoor air conditioner a viable option for heat use as well. The electric heat strip option is 24kW / 83,300 BTUs. The standard unit does not include the heat strip and is a cooling only unit.
The KPO series is a rugged and reliable indoor/outdoor cooling source. It has many heavy duty construction features including a 16 gauge insulated G90 galvanized and epoxy powder-coated cabinet mounted to a 12 gauge skid. The units include 8" heavy duty swivel and locking casters for easily setting the unit into place. The wheels are removable and the base also offers fork lift skid access for easy movement, setup, and transport. These units can even be placed outdoors and ducted into your space. The KPO series offers advanced airflow capabilities, with up to 75 feet of cold air supply and return and up to 100 feet of hot air exhaust ducting. These units can even be used in temperatures from 60° to 100°F. The condenser has Low Ambient Temperature Capability using a Variable Frequency Drive that will operate at temperatures below freezing.
The KPO series is primarily used for cooling areas with a high concentration of heat load, usually from electrical or computer equipment or other sealed interior room. The KPO units offer an effective, affordable solutions including spot cooling for workers or process cooling within larger spaces without the use of condenser ducting, such as warehouses, factories or production areas.
All units in the KPO line do require a duct to direct the cooling into the conditioned space. For the KPO5 and 12, this is done with a 12” diameter duct (available separately KK-DUCT12Y-25). Additionally, your KPO portable air conditioner will work best when the return air return is directed into the area of highest heat load. This placement allows the unit to return the heat load directly to the evaporator and not to linger in the conditioned space. This is also accomplished with a 12” diameter duct. The KPO12 systems must have 100' total ducting/minimum of 2 ducts. The maximum length of the ducting is 75' for each cold air supply and return and up to 100 feet of hot air discharge. The KK-DUCT12Y-25 is a 25 foot length of ducting (four would be required) for this unit. The KPO series comes equipped with an internal high lift condensate pump to give you condensate flexibility.
The flexible duct is also used for hot air discharge. The KPO12 uses a 20" diameter duct (KK-DUCT20Y-25). A flange (DCR-20SW, available separately) is required to attach the ducting. A hot air discharge duct may not be necessary if the unit is set up outdoors and ducted indoors into the space you are cooling.
