Mr. Cool Do It Yourself (DIY) Single Zone Mini Split System is offered in sizes to fit all of your installation needs. The 5th Generation Systems are available in BTUs from 9,000 for smaller room (up to 400 sq. ft.) installations up to 36,000 BTUs (up to 1550 sq. ft.) for those large spaces! All single zone systems, with the exception of the 36,000 BTU system, are Energy Star Certified, meeting strict energy efficiency ratings. Many of these systems also meet even more stringent qualifications for Energy Star Certification in Cold Climates. Cold Climate certification tests units down to 5° to ensure heat all winter. For you, as a consumer, this means energy cost savings overall, while still maintaining the comfort level you want! While the 36,000 BTU system is not Energy Star Certified, it still offers great efficiency ratings.The Mr. Cool 5th Generation DIY single zone systems now use R454B refrigerant for lower Global Warming Potential (GWP). While some manufacturers have chose the R32 refrigerant, Mr. Cool condensers chose R454B. R454B features a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 467 - the most environmentally friendly refrigerant available. The larger the GWP, the more that specific gas warms the Earth. Below is a comparison chart of GWPs now being used by manufacturers versus R410A which is being phased out.
With 12,000 BTUs, the DIY-12 system will cool a space that is about 550 sq. ft. This system uses 115 Volt electricity so it is easy to incorporate into almost any home or office. It is Energy Star Certified, boasting high ratings including 12.5 EER2, 23.5 SEER2 and 10.2 HSPF2-4 ratings. HSPF2-4 covers climates in Zone 4 including Florida, Texas and California where the average winter temperature is around 47°F. Additionally, it also received Energy Star Certification for use in Cold Climate areas, with an HSPF2-5 rating of 7.6. HSPF2-5 covers climates in Zone 5 including New York, Illinois and Minnesota where the average winter temperature is around 35°F, making it suitable for use with colder climates and higher heating demands. We do not recommend this unit as a primary heat source in northern climates.
Included with your Mr. Cool Single Zone 5th Gen DIY Mini Split System is a DIY Pro Cable. It is 25 feet and is included with the condenser. It features crimped connectors as well as protective conduit covering for long lasting use. It connects from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit. When adding length the the original 25' line set, you will need to replace the Pro-Cable that is included and replace with the new wire included with the couplers.

The whole system ships in two packages. The indoor unit ships with all the required hardware needed for installation including a wall template and mounting plate, wall sleeve (to send the piping and line set through), a remote and the SmartController. A 25' line set and 25 ft. Pro-Cable is included in the box with the condenser unit.
If you need more than the included 25 ft. line set, we have packaged the line sets with everything you need to achieve your required length up to 75 ft. 75 ft. is the longest length allowable for the DIY systems. DIY line sets and DIY Couplers are available to extend the line set to accommodate your installation needs. The lines are fully charged with R454B refrigerant. Each "Line Set Install Kit" over 25 ft. will include the necessary couplers required to connect more than one length of piping. Couplers are available with 75' of Pro-Cable to accommodate your new line length. When adding length to the original 25' line set, you will need to replace the Pro-Cable included. The outdoor unit features variable speed DC inverter compressor technology to help cut your energy costs without losing any benefits. It operates in the cooling mode down to -13°F. This makes it an ideal solution for use in computer server rooms, greenhouse and other areas that need to be kept cool year round. It will also operate in the heating mode down to -13°F as well. Gold Fin finish will help your condenser resist corrosion for years. The Gold Fin® Condenser provides superior corrosion resistance for coastal homes, ensuring long-lasting performance in harsh conditions.
Other features include:
- Follow Me Feature - by pressing the 'follow me' button and keeping the remote close to you, you tell the air conditioner to set the temperature from wherever the remote happens to be, this counteracts the tendency for the air conditioner to stop cooling or heating because the air around the unit has reached its set temperature
- Auto Restart - in the event of power loss the system will restart when power is restored
- Breeze Away - avoids airflow from blowing directly on you. Louver will automatically set to a 35° angle and the fan will adjust to maintain a cool atmosphere
- Wireless control with SmartHVAC controller installed (and app)
- Louver Memory - horizontal louver will automatically move to the same position it was last set to
- Leakage Detection - if your system detects low coolant, an alarm will sound to alert you and to help prevent damage to your system
- Sleep Mode - automatically adjusts the temperature to maximize comfort during night time sleep. When in COOL mode, the unit will increase the temperature by 2°F after 1 hour, and will increase an additional 2°F after another hour. When in HEAT mode, the unit will decrease the temperature by 2°F after 1 hour, and will decrease an additional 2°F after another hour. After 8 hours operating in SLEEP mode, the system will continue to run at the final temperature setting.
- Dry Mode - In DRY mode, the system will reduce the humidity of the air in the room for increased comfort. The system will automatically cycle between cooling and fan only modes to dehumidify the air.

Product Warranty
The unit comes standard with a 5 Year Parts/7 Year Compressor Warranty and is available with a Limited Lifetime Compressor Warranty with certain conditions/requirements.
The Limited Lifetime Compressor Warranty & the 7 Year Unit Replacement Warranty covers the unit ONLY in the event of compressor failure. In order to qualify for the Limited Lifetime Compressor Warranty, the unit must be registered at the web address (https://mrcool.com/warranty/) within 60 days of the installation date AND the original, registered owner must also enroll in the MrCool Care Program within 4 months from the installation date, which has a biannual fee to be covered by the owner. The MrCool Care Program is designed to provide the owner with a Do-It-Yourself cleaning kit to service/clean the unit at regular intervals (biannually) as preventative maintenance to help ensure the unit will continue to function properly throughout its lifespan.
